The Name of Jesus

There’s just something about the name of Jesus, isn’t there?

I love how Bill and Gloria Gaither put it:

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Like a fragrance after the rain
… Let all heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms may all pass away
But there’s something about that name

The ways He’s everything to me are limitless. (Tweet This!) Here are a few:

Divinity

Jesus is God.
Jesus is God. Without Him I would never know God..

Meaning

The Great I AM
He’s the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega. He’s where I’ve come from and where I’m going.
Without Him I’d be purposeless, rudderless, and joyless. Life would be meaningless.

Vision

I could see nothing at all without Jesus, who is Light.

Beauty

The world would be devoid of fragrance without Jesus.
Life would be tasteless without Him.
I would live in a formless and colorless world if not for Jesus.

Life

I can greet each new day with gratitude. He’s the spring from which it flows.
Without Him death would consume me.
He is my strength and productivity. Without Him I would shrivel up and die.
He is my stability and renewal.
I would starve without Him.
Jesus is my eternity.

My Protector and Provider

Without Him I would be defenseless.
I would be directionless without Jesus, hopelessly lost.
I would be in want without Him. He leads me to green pastures and restores my soul. He is my rest.

All Things to all Men From the Beginning For all Time

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.

6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:1-14

A Simple Prayer

Lord, there’s just something about Your Name. Jesus is the sweetest sound to our ears … taste to our tongues … and fragrance in all the world. We long for you. We praise you. And we speak yours, the sweetest Name in all the world, with all the gratitude our hearts possess. Keep on our knees at Your feet.
~For Jesus sake
